01 — Our Mandate
ZTF's mandate is deliberately narrow and practical. We fund specific, once-off gateways into opportunity — not general welfare. Every grant targets a named cost, paid directly to the institution or supplier.
University enrolment fees; entry fees for sporting events and competitions.
Once-off capital purchases — laptops, delivery bikes, salon equipment — to start or grow a business.
Boots, gear, protective equipment, and uniforms for young people starting a new job.
Flights, visas, and ground transport for young South Africans representing themselves or the country.
Limited, case-by-case support for child-headed households and exceptional medical needs where no other funder is available.
02 — Eligibility
South African citizen, aged 15 to 35 at the date of application. A valid smart ID or green barcoded ID is required.
Preference is given to Black and otherwise disadvantaged applicants, in keeping with the Foundation's transformation and redress objectives.
Applicant (or guardian, if a minor) completes the standard application, provides proof of cost, and agrees to report back — a photo, a result, a short update — once funded.
Applicants under 18 apply with a parent/guardian or school/club as co-signatory.
